How do you find partners?

A film shoot is a circus. Someone has to organize and oversee everything, and that’s not the director. The director is busy making the movie. She does not have time to get everyone lunch or talk to the insurance company. She needs…

A line producer, a production manager, a first assistant director... She needs a TEAM of people who handle the logistics.

But where to find these people?

The same way you find anything in this world: ask around. Someone knows someone who is perfect.

To be honest, when I started this post, I felt this problem was overwhelming. But now I see how simple it really is. Just try to find someone, and you will. That’s how life works.

When I was filming a documentary in Thailand, I needed someone to drive me for two days across the country. Seemed impossible, but I found a guy in a day. Most of the things that feel scary are actually easy.

Now, finding someone talented? That takes blood, sweat, and tears—and ass-backwards luck. But just finding someone, anyone, to fill a position? Piece of cake.
